rating: high angst and yelling
I think Alan Colmes, on the Fox Radio Network, is one of the most elegant and articulate speakers on the radio, period. He repeatedly engages listeners who disagree with him are ranting and raving and worked up by Fox's usual product (He's one those dreaded Libruls).
I don't think there's any other show where the host takes on caller after caller night after night, very minimal call screening, just boom, boom, boom. For three hours you hear voices in the night from all over the country. He doesn't cut them off, and he usually deflects bullshit with laughter. He has a real talent for listening which is what makes the show a nightly ensemble performance.
But, being on the front lines of the argument war does lead to some of that ol' PTSD. If Alan sounds a little shellshocked in this conversation, take that into account....this is someone who rarely if EVER loses it.
